چکیده

Carbon Dioxide Storage in Natural Gas Reservoir — The general idea of CO2 disposal in gas reservoirs is that the underground volume of the ultimately recoverable hydrocarbons (gas and condensate) is replaced by CO2. This paper investigates the feasibility of carbon dioxide disposal in depleted gas reservoirs. Gas reservoirs are a practical storage site for the carbon dioxide, because the presence of the hydrocarbons that were trapped in the subsurface for thousands to millions of years proves that they can retain the carbon dioxide safely. The storage capacity of depleted gas reservoirs depends on numerous factors reviewed in this paper. Enhanced Gas Recovery with Carbon Dioxide Sequestration in a Water-drive Gas Condensate Reservoir: a Case Study in a Real Gas Field

Gas reservoirs usually have high recovery due to high mobility and low residual gas saturation, although some of them producing under water-drive mechanism have low recovery efficiency. Encroachment of water into these reservoirs traps considerable amount of gas and increases the maximum residual gas saturation, which results in the reduction of gas and condensate production. Generally, the rec...

Selection of the Best Efficient Method for Natural Gas Storage at High Capacities Using TOPSIS Method

Nowadays one of the most important energy sources is natural gas. By depletion of oil reservoirs in the world, natural gas will emerge as the future energy source for human life. One of the major concerns of gas suppliers is being able to supply this source of energy the entire year. This concern intensifies during more consuming seasons of the year when the demand for natural gas increases, r...

Carbon Capture and Storage from Fossil Fuel Use

Glossary Carbon sequestration: capture and secure storage of carbon that would otherwise be emitted to or remain in the atmosphere. Carbon sources: for this chapter, we are concerned with large stationary sources of CO2, e.g. fossil fueled power plants, cement manufacturing, ammonia production, iron and non-ferrous metal smelters, industrial boilers, refineries, natural gas wells. Carbon captur...

Carbon Sequestration with Enhanced Gas Recovery: Identifying Candidate Sites for Pilot Study

Depleted natural gas reservoirs are promising targets for carbon dioxide sequestration. Although depleted, these reservoirs are not devoid of methane, and carbon dioxide injection may allow enhanced production of methane by reservoir repressurization or pressure maintenance. Based on the favorable results of numerous simulation studies, we propose a field test of the Carbon Sequestration with E...

CFD Simulation of a Wetted-Wall Column for Natural Gas Sweetening ‎Using DEA Solution

Natural gas usually contains significant amounts of acid gases when it is extracted from underground reservoirs. Therefore, it must be treated by appropriate processes to remove these acidic components. In this study, the simultaneous absorption of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide from natural gas into diethanol amine solution was simulated using CFD. Absorption process was performed in a we...
